TREASURER

Malcolm Bairstow
Malcom, from a young age had a passion for boating and fishing having spent his early years pursuing these recreational pastimes on the Port Hacking River in Sydney
He eventually made a change for the Far North Queensland lifestyle and pursued a career on the waters of the Coral Sea in an industry that he was no stranger to. His first appointment was as a commercial skipper which then led to Malcolm starting his own marine brokerage and fleet management business. But it wasn't always work. There was time allocated to enjoy the waters off Cairns and while raising a young family, many a weekend was spent conducting overnighter and day time fishing trips.
However, wth the ever increasing threat of industries closing in North Queensland, a requirement grew to look after the people and families severely effected by conflicting government policies. Feeling something needed to be done to protect the very industry he was involved in, as well as others, Malcolm organised the formation of PRISM (Primary Industries, Small Business & Manufacturing). This was a group of like minded people wanting to defend the life blood and rights of "Far North Queenslanders".
Malcolm felt it evident that the Australian boating fraternity was being crucified by green sympathising "scientific evidence", and joined the executive of the AFLP (then being 'The Fishing Party Queensland') to help fight for the truth and rights of Australian citizens.
To this day, the passion still lives on.
